How to clean shower tiles without scrubbing?

Who doesn’t love a clean bathroom. But no one wants to spend hours cleaning all the dirty shower tiles in the shower, especially when you have multiple bathrooms in your home. Luckily, there are a few easy ways that you can clean the shower tiles in your Fort Wayne home without resorting to back-breaking scrubbing techniques. So take a look at the helpful hints listed below if you’re tired of scrubbing those dirty tiles for hours.

The best part of the following methods is that they use everyday household items you likely already own! However, if these do-it-yourself methods do not yield the results you are after or you would simply rather have a professional take care of your cleaning needs, call the experts at Carpet Masters to schedule a tile cleaning appointment.

 1. Bleach and Baking Soda

Make tile cleaning easy by creating a paste out of baking soda and bleach: mix baking soda and a small amount of bleach to form a sticky paste. Next, apply the paste to the shower tiles, either by hand or with a scrub brush. Use an old toothbrush to apply it to the grout lines. Once you’ve applied the paste, let it sit and dry for about five minutes. Then, use hot water to wash the dirt and grime from the tile.

Helpful hint:  Make sure the bleach will not damage any of the protective coatings on your shower tiles, such as porcelain tiles. Test a small portion of the tile before proceeding.

 2. Use a Magic Eraser

A magic eraser will often take off any dirt and stains from your shower tiles without having to scrub. You’ll find various brands on the market that will do the trick. Wipe down the shower tiles with hot, soapy water before pulling out the magic eraser. Then, use the eraser to remove the rest of the dirt and debris from the tile. You won’t have to scrub, and your shower tiles will look brand new!

Helpful hint: Cut the magic erasers into smaller pieces to get more use out of them. You can also rinse them out when they are dirty to extend their use.

 3. White Vinegar and Dish Soap

Another do-it-yourself hack that will allow you to clean your shower tiles easily revolves around two simple household items- white vinegar and dish soap. In a microwave-proof container, mix 1/3 cup of dish soap with 3 cups of white vinegar. Microwave the mixture until it begins to simmer. Pour the mixture into a clean spray bottle and shake to combine. Spray the formula all over your shower tiles. After five to ten minutes, rinse well with hot water.

Helpful hint: For tough stains, skip the spray bottle and apply the mixture directly to the spot in question. Let sit for ten minutes before using a damp cloth or sponge to wipe the spot away.

 4. Bleach and Hot Water

Is there mildew in the grout lines of your shower tiles? A cleaning solution of simple bleach and hot water will help remove any mildew without having to scrub for hours. First, fill a clean bucket about a quarter of the way with bleach. Fill up the rest of the bucket with hot water. Then, dip a clean grout brush or sponge into the mix and clean the grout lines. The bleach will kill any mildew that has formed and will also keep it from returning.

Helpful hint:  Since bleach is a harsh chemical, test a small spot on your tile before applying it everywhere to make sure it will not fade the color. You may also wish to wear protective gloves.

 5. Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide

This do-it-yourself hack will take you back to the days of building your own working volcano in science class! Mix two parts baking soda to one part hydrogen peroxide. The paste will begin to get foamy as you stir it together. Use the mixture on your shower tiles to clean and brighten them. The best part of this homemade solution is the fact that it doesn’t just clean your shower tiles-the peroxide will bring out the natural shine.

Helpful hint:  Use an old toothbrush with this solution to get the tile grout as clean as possible.
